Toronto recalled Jackson from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The 35-year-old will give the Blue Jays an extra bullpen arm as starter Chris Bassitt heads out on paternity leave. Jackson will probably be sent back down when Bassitt returns next week, or when Zach Pop (hamstring) is activated from the IL.... See More ... See Less

Blue Jays' Jay Jackson: Recalled from Triple-A
Toronto recalled Jackson from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports. The right-hander will take the place of Zach Pop after Pop was placed on the 15-day injured list with a hamstring injury. Jackson wasn't particularly effective in Triple-A with a 5.91 ERA over 10.2 innings, but he did strike out 15 hitters in that timeframe. He'll be a low-leverage option to begin his time with the Blue Jays.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Jay Jackson: In line for promotion
Jackson is expected to be recalled by the Blue Jays prior to Friday's game in Pittsburgh, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. He's likely in line to take the spot of Zach Pop (hamstring). The 35-year-old Jackson holds a 5.91 ERA but a 15:2 K:BB over 10.2 innings this season at Triple-A Buffalo.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Jay Jackson: Optioned to minors
Jackson signed a one-year contract with the Blue Jays on Wednesday and was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo. According to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca, Jackson agreed to a split contract with Toronto that will pay him $1.4 million at the big-league level, but since he has a minor-league option remaining, the Blue Jays have the luxury of stashing him at Triple-A for the time being. Jackson has spent parts of four seasons in the majors and has accrued a 4.21 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 80:31 K:BB in 57.2 innings between stops with San Diego, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Atlanta.... Blue Jays' Jay Jackson: Rejoins Toronto on split contract
Jackson agreed to a split major-league contract with the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 35-year-old was released by Toronto over the weekend but is now back with the club on a split deal. Jackson allowed seven hits with a 13:2 K:BB across 9.1 scoreless frames during spring training, and he'll likely be near the top of the list of potential call-ups for the Blue Jays.... See More ... Jay Jackson: Released by TOR
Jackson was released by the Blue Jays on Saturday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Jackson pitched well this spring with a 0.00 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over eight Grapefruit League appearances, but Toronto decided not to keep him around the organization. The 35-year-old is now free to sign with another club, and he likely will be looking at a minor-league deal at this stage of the year and his career.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Jay Jackson: Inks MiLB deal with Toronto
Jackson agreed to a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Wednesday, which includes an invite to major-league spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Jackson spent the 2022 campaign with Atlanta but appeared in just two big-league contests. He pitched well at the Triple-A level with a 2.29 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB across 19.2 innings after he sat out first couple months of the season with a lat strain.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Jackson: Becomes free agent
Jackson elected free agency Sunday. Jackson was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sept. 21, but rather than remaining in the Atlanta organization heading into the spring, he'll try his luck on the open market. The 35-year-old right-hander owns a 4.21 ERA and 19.8 K-BB% across 57.2 career innings in the majors.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Outrighted to Triple-A
Jackson was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. He will remain in Atlanta's organization after getting designated for assignment last week. Jackson has logged 1.1 scoreless innings over two MLB appearances this year and has a 1.53 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 17.2 innings at Triple-A.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Removed from 40-man roster
Jackson was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Friday. Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett in early September, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Ozzie Albies (foot) was reinstated from the 60-day IL. Since heading to the minors, Jackson has struck out two in two scoreless innings.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Sent down Saturday
Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. Jackson joined Atlanta's bullpen last weekend and allowed a hit and no walks while striking out one in 1.1 innings over two appearances in the big leagues. However, he'll head back to the minors after Bryce Elder was called up to start Saturday's game against the Marlins.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Recalled Saturday
Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. Jackson spent two weeks in the minors and struck out five in three scoreless innings over three relief appearances across that span. However, he'll rejoin the major-league club to provide bullpen depth after Jackson Stephens (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Sent back down
Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. Jackson was called up by Atlanta on Thursday, but he didn't make his season debut during his brief stint in the majors. He'll head back to the minors as part of a move to make room for a pair of starting pitchers for Saturday's doubleheader against the Marlins.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Rejoining big-league club
Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. The 34-year-old was up with the big-league club for one day last week and will return to the majors Thursday with Max Fried (concussion) headed to the injured list. Jackson had a 3.74 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB across 21.2 innings for the Giants last year, but he's yet to make his season debut in 2022.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Dispatched to minors
Atlanta optioned Jackson to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Jackson's stay on the 26-man active roster lasted less than 24 hours, as he was sent back to Gwinnett immediately after he was recalled ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Phillies. He went unused out of the bullpen in the loss and is still waiting to make his 2022 debut with Atlanta.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Called up for matinee
Atlanta recalled Jackson from Triple-A Gwinnett prior to Wednesday's game against the Phillies. He'll be joining the big-league bullpen for the first time this season after opening the campaign on the 60-day injured list before being optioned to Gwinnett on July 2 when he was activated. Jackson posted a 1.80 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB in 10 innings out of the bullpen at Triple-A prior to his promotion.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A
Atlanta reinstated Jackson (lat) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. Touki Toussaint was designated for assignment to make room for Jackson on the 40-man roster. Jackson will essentially continue his rehab at Triple-A for a while longer after he missed the first three months of the season with a right lat strain. It would seem Atlanta expects him to contribute at the major-league level in the second half.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Moves rehab to Triple-A
Atlanta transferred Jackson's (lat) rehab assignment Tuesday from the rookie-level Florida Complex League to Triple-A Gwinnett. Jackson heads to Gwinnett after he worked two innings between two appearances in the FCL on Thursday and Monday, with the right-hander giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit and no walks while striking out one. Since he's been on the shelf all season with a right lat strain, Jackson will likely make multiple appearances at Gwinnett before Atlanta considers activating him from the 60-day injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Begins rehab assignment
Jackson (lat) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Atlanta's rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. Jackson is ready for his first game action of the season after Atlanta placed him on the 60-day injured list coming out of spring training due to a right lat strain. Atlanta has the luxury of keeping Jackson on the rehab assignment for up to 30 days, but because he projects to work as a one- or a two-inning reliever once activated from the IL, he may not need the full window of time in the minors to build up.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Jay Jackson: Out to begin year with lat strain
Atlanta has placed Jackson on the 60-day injured list March 19 with a right lat strain. The transaction opened up a roster spot for reliever Kenley Jansen, who inked a one-year, $16 million deal with Atlanta. Jackson, whom Atlanta acquired from San Francisco in November, recorded a 3.74 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 21.2 innings with the Giants in 2021.... See More ... See Less
