  • Brewers' Chris Lee: Lands with Brewers

Lee's contract was purchased by the Brewers on Tuesday. The 27-year-old pitched 47.2 innings between the Double-A and Triple-A levels in the Orioles' organization last season, where he recorded a 5.85 ERA and a 49:23 K:BB prior to being released in July. Lee has yet to pitch in the majors, but he posted a 4.10 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 26.1 innings with St. Paul of the American Association last year.

  • Chris Lee: Released by Orioles

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Returns to action

Lee (illness) allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one across one inning Tuesday against the Rays. Tuesday's appearance marked Lee's first of spring, as an illness kept the southpaw out of early action. The 26-year-old is expected to open the season back at Triple-A Norfolk, where he owns a 5.58 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 91:64 K:BB across 127.1 innings (23 starts, nine relief appearances) over the last two seasons.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Held back by illness

Lee has yet to pitch this spring due to illness, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Lee is expected to return to the mound soon, which would give him still enough time to build up to game shape by Opening Day. The 26-year-old is unlikely to spend that day on the big-league roster, as he's yet to conquer the Triple-A level, posting a 5.58 ERA over parts of two seasons for Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Back with Baltimore on minors deal

Lee signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Tuesday, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports. Lee will stick in Baltimore's system after being cast off the team's 40-man roster earlier in the season. The 26-year-old lefty owns a 5.58 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 91:64 K:BB through 127.1 with Triple-A Norfolk over the past two seasons. He figures to report back to Triple-A to begin the 2019 campaign.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Orioles outrighted Lee (undisclosed) to Double-A Bowie on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Lee had occupied a spot on Triple-A Norfolk's 7-day disabled list since late May due to the unspecified injury before beginning a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League just over a week ago. Even though Lee is seemingly back to full health, the Orioles no longer deemed him worthy of a 40-man roster spot, nor was he viewed as a candidate for the Triple-A rotation.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Will return from disabled list Friday

Lee (oblique) will take the mound for Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, David Hall of The Virginian-Pilot reports. Lee has been sidelined with a right oblique injury since late February but appears to be ready to return to the Tide at the Triple-A level after participating in a couple extended spring training games the past two weeks. During 27 games with Norfolk in 2017, Lee accumulated a 5.11 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 116.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Nearing rehab assignment

Lee (oblique) threw 3.2 innings at extended spring training Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. The pitching prospect seems to be progressing well in his rehab program. The expectation is that Lee will throw five innings Saturday before embarking on a rehab assignment with a minor-league affiliate, so it seems like he's still at least a couple weeks away from a full return to action.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Optioned to Triple-A

Lee (oblique) was sent to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Lee, who suffered an oblique injury in Tuesday's game against the Rays, posted a 5.11 ERA in 116.1 innings for Norfolk last season, striking out 15.2 percent of batters while walking 9.9 percent.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Out four weeks

Lee will be sidelined for four weeks while recovering from an oblique injury, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Lee will miss the rest of spring training after facing just one batter during his outing against the Rays on Tuesday. That was just his second appearance in the Grapefruit League and he seemed to be holding his right side while exiting the contest with a trainer. Once the regular season rolls around, Lee should be back at the Triple-A level in Norfolk, where he posted a 5.11 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 27 appearances last year.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: MRI scheduled for Wednesday

Lee (olique) is scheduled to have an MRI on Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Lee faced just one batter during Tuesday's game against the Rays before exiting with an oblique injury. At this point, the team has yet to provide additional information regarding the severity of the ailment, but more should be known following Wednesday's examination. Prior to Tuesday's outing, Lee had appeared in one game (2.0 innings) this spring, during which he gave up one run on three hits and a walk.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Dealing with oblique injury

Lee was removed from Tuesday's spring game due to an injured right oblique, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. The injury cropped up after Lee faced just one batter in Tuesday's bout. Although the nature of the injury is now apparent, the severity of the issue is still unknown. More information should come forth as he's examined further. Obliques can be notorious for keeping players out for a relatively long time, so this is worth keeping an eye on during spring training.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Exits prematurely with undisclosed injury

Lee exited Tuesday's game against the Rays with an apparent injury, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports. The pitching prospect was able to retire the first batter he faced, but he was subsequently examined by a trainer and came out of the game. It's unclear what the issue is or how severe it is, but Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports that Lee seemed to be holding his right side as he walked off. More information should come forth once he's able to be fully examined by the team medical staff. Paul Fry replaced him on the mound.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Disappoints in first Triple-A campaign

Lee posted a 5.11 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 27 games (20 starts) during his first season at Triple-A Norfolk. Entering 2017, the hype surrounding the 6-foot-3 southpaw was loud. Lee pitched well in spring training and almost snagged a temporary Opening Day rotation spot while Chris Tillman recovered from a shoulder injury. Most figured Lee would make his MLB debut at some point during the year, but as fate would have it, the pitcher wound up finishing the campaign with his worst marks since playing at the rookie levels. International League hitters, most of whom have big-league experience, tallied a .302 BAA over 116.1 innings. In fairness, Lee was victimized by an unlucky .352 BABIP and career-low 70.6 percent strand rate. He'll likely still be regarded as an MLB candidate when camp opens in February, but it's hard to believe he'll make the jump without having to show improvements at Triple-A first.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Inefficient early in Triple-A campaign

Lee made it through just 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three in Wednesday's outing for Triple-A Norfolk. The organization's No. 4 pitching prospect has looked far from MLB-ready through three minor-league starts this year. Aside from a horrendous 9.28 ERA, Lee has been madly inefficient while issuing eight walks over 10.2 innings.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Optioned to minor league camp

Lee was optioned to minor league camp Saturday, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports. He was having a strong spring in major league camp, notching a 2.77 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 13.0 innings. Despite being optioned to the minors Saturday, MASN's Roch Kubatko Lee is still in the running to be Baltimore's fifth starter early in the season.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Remains in hunt for rotation spot

Lee remains in the competition to replace Chris Tillman (shoulder) in the Opening Day rotation, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports. The O's No. 10 prospect has put together a respectable Grapefruit League season, managing a 2.77 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 13 innings. In all likelihood, Lee will be optioned to Triple-A Norfolk where he'll continue to refine his craft in 2017. Regardless, the 24-year-old left-hander has made his mark this spring and may have even earned himself a midseason shot in the big leagues.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Rocky start to spring

Lee, who went on the 60-day disabled list in September due to a back injury, has given up a run in each of his first two outings this spring. In each appearance, both times against the Pirates, Lee gave up one run and two hits while striking out two. Although he appears recovered from his back issue that has kept him out since early June , the 24-year-old still appears to be knocking off some rust. While he has shown potential to be a dominant, hard-throwing left-hander, Lee will need to demonstrate more consistency in future outings in order to accelerate his development.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Adds muscle in offseason

Lee (back) arrived at camp weighing 197 pounds, more than 20 pounds heavier than when he reported for spring training last season, Edward Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Lee suffered a back injury last June that prevented him from throwing. The young flam thrower shifted his concentration to strengthening his lower body, doing squats and leg exercises that helped him pack on muscle. "With all this added weight, it feels so much better on my arm," Lee said. "It feels like it's going with my body now and it feels like I can hold up a lot longer." At 6-foot-4, Lee is long and lanky. Sometimes that has led to problems with his mechanics, but the 24-year-old believes he's learned to use his body to improve his control and velocity. Lee's fastball sits at 92 to 94 mph and tops out at 97 mph. The left-hander should be on the radar for owners in dynasty leagues.

  • Orioles' Chris Lee: Setting sights on big league debut

Lee is on track to make his major league debut by mid-summer, Joe Wedra of SB Nation reports. Lee is on the team's 40-man roster and will undoubtedly be under the spotlight this spring. The Orioles' No. 12 prospect suffered a season-ending lat injury after limiting opposing hitters to a measly .222 average over 51.1 innings (eight starts) at Double-A Bowie in 2016. Lee, a 24-year-old lefty, received a ringing endorsement from manager Buck Showalter at minicamp in early January. "If he's healthy, he's a guy who will get on the radar screen in a hurry," Showalter said. "In fact, he's a guy that when we were thinking about left-handed pitchers and stuff last year, he has the type of fastball, he can pitch with his fastball. He's got that type of movement." If Lee can prove he's healthy this spring, he'd make for a solid selection in dynasty formats.
