Cabbage lost hold of his near-everyday role as well as his spot on the Angels' 26-man active roster after the club acquired first baseman C.J. Cabbage didn't appear in any minor-league games after mid-May of last season due to a left forearm fracture, but he was cleared for the start of spring training and appears to be making up for the lost time by getting plenty of at-bats early on during Cactus League play. Though he's seen most of his time in the minors in the corner outfield, Cabbage has been deployed exclusively as a designated hitter or first baseman so far this spring, so it's possible his left throwing shoulder isn't yet back to 100 percent. A fourth-round pick by Minnesota in the 2015 Draft, Cabbage slugged 27 homers and drove in 82 RBI between two minor-league levels in 2021 before parting ways with the Twins organization. The Angels signed him to a minor-league deal last November, and Cabbage is off to a fast start for the Trash Pandas with eight homers in just 80 at-bats. The 25-year-old was recently named the Southern League player of the month for April and is making a strong push for a promotion to Triple-A ball.
