Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Inks minor-league deal with Nats
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder re-signed Thursday with the Nationals on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.

Snyder had been included in the Nationals' 60-man player pool for the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, but he remained at Washington's alternate training site all season without receiving a call up. Though he'll get the chance to compete for a bench role with the big club in spring training, Snyder is more realistically headed for Triple-A Fresno to begin the 2021 season.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Added to 60-man pool
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder has been named to the Nationals' 60-man player pool, Jessica Camerato of reports.

The 33-year-old gives the Nats some additional depth at the corner infield spots in case Ryan Zimmerman, who has a newborn baby at home, elects not to risk exposure to COVID-19. Snyder last saw big-league action in 2018 with the Rays and hit .257 with 31 homers in 117 games for Triple-A Fresno last year.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Moves back to minors camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Nationals reassigned Snyder to their minor-league camp Wednesday, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.

Snyder slugged two home runs and drove in eight over his 25 Grapefruit League at-bats, but it wasn't enough to boost his long-shot odds of breaking camp with the big club. Expect him to report to Triple-A Fresno to begin the campaign.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Hits grand slam
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder went 1-for-2 with a grand slam and a strikeout in Saturday's spring win over the Twins.

Snyder pinch ran for Juan Soto in the fifth inning and remained in left field for the Nationals. The 32-year-old joined the team on a minor-league deal in January and is a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster given Washington's infield depth.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Joins Nationals
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder signed a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training with the Nationals on Tuesday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Snyder had a brief stint in the majors with the Rays last season, but has otherwise seen minimal MLB action since 2013. The 32-year-old did manage a .907 OPS over 47 plate appearances with the Braves in 2016, but 10 of his 11 hits went for extra bases, which was clearly unsustainable. Snyder otherwise has a career .240/.276/.455 slash line in the majors and will most likely serve as organizational depth for Washington's infield.

Rays' Brandon Snyder: Accepts assignment to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

Snyder was designated for assignment Friday by the Rays after spending three days on the 40-man roster. The 31-year-old should continue to serve as organizational infield depth for Tampa Bay.

Rays' Brandon Snyder: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was designated for assignment by the Rays on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Snyder was up for all of three days before being removed from the roster in order to make room for Brad Miller, who returns from a stay on the disabled list due to a groin injury. Snyder doesn't have a profile that makes him particularly likely to be claimed, as he's a 31-year-old with just 211 career plate appearances and a .276 on-base percentage, so he has a good chance of returning to the Rays' organization as minor-league depth.

Rays' Brandon Snyder: Called up to majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was called up Tuesday to replace the injured Matt Duffy (hamstring), Bill Chastain of reports.

Duffy will be out at least 10 days with a hamstring strain, though early indications are that his recovery time will be short, so Snyder may not be up for long. The 31-year-old has played all four corner positions in his major-league career, but he's appeared in the big leagues in just one of the last four seasons. He has a bit of pop (.459 career slugging percentage) but his .279 career on-base percentage makes him a pretty classic Quad-A player. Don't expect much in his limited time with the Rays.

Rays' Brandon Snyder: Headed to Triple-A to open season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder will not make the Rays' Opening Day roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Snyder was vying for one of the Rays' final Opening Day roster spots, but the team ultimately decided to turn elsewhere for a reserve outfielder. The 31-year-old Snyder, who hasn't appeared in the majors since 2016, will report to Triple-A Durham to open the season. He will serve as organizational outfield depth.

Rays' Brandon Snyder: Gunning for final reserve OF spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder is competing for the final reserve outfield spot on the Rays' active roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 31-year-old's main competition in this position battle is Jason Coats, but Micah Johnson is also in the mix to an extent. Manager Kevin Cash expressed a desire to have another right-handed bat in the outfield mix, making Snyder an attractive candidate in that sense. His spring stats also make a good case for him (6-for-21, two extra-base hits). He wouldn't garner much playing time as the roster is constructed now, but Snyder still seems to be in a good place as the regular season nears.

Rays' Brandon Snyder: Gets spring invite from Rays
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder signed a minor-league contract with the Rays on Thursday which includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Feinsand of reports.

The 31-year-old spent all of last season with Triple-A Syracuse, compiling a .263/.356/.490 line with 23 homers and 77 RBI in 121 games. He's seen brief major-league stints in five seasons since 2010, though he's struggled to a .242 batting average over that stretch (120 games). While Snyder has flashed some pop in the past, he doesn't figure to be anything more than an organizational depth piece next season.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Suffers arm injury Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder is dealing with an arm injury, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.

With Trea Turner going down with a fractured wrist Thursday, Snyder could have been a potential call-up to add infield depth for the Nationals. Snyder reportedly suffered the injury Wednesday and it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, but in any case, he won't be an option to join the big league club any time soon.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Will be reassigned to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was spotted clearing out his locker Sunday and is expected to be reassigned to the Nationals' minor-league camp, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Snyder was competing for a bench role with the Nationals, but his standing as a non-40-man roster player never gave him much of a realistic chance at beating out Wilmer Difo or Michael Taylor for those duties. He's expected to spend another season at the Triple-A level, where he slashed .327/.358/.442 in 160 plate appearances with Gwinnett in the Braves organization in 2016.

Nationals' Brandon Snyder: Signs deal with Washington
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder signed a minor league contract with the Nationals on Sunday, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.

Snyder enjoyed one of the best performances of his career at Triple-A Gwinnett in 2016, where he hit .327/.358/.442 across 43 games. Unfortunately, his solid bat didn't follow him up to the majors, where he put up a bleak .239 batting average over 37 games (46 at-bats). The 29-year-old's chance to work his way up to the majors with the Nationals will likely come courtesy of his versatility in the field, as he's played the outfield as well as first and third base throughout his career.

Brandon Snyder: Becomes free agent
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was designated for assignment by the Braves on Tuesday, but he opted to become a free agent instead, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Snyder, a former first-round pick, put up a solid .327/.358/.442 slash line with Triple-A Gwinnett, but his success didn't translate to the big leagues, leading the Braves to send him off the 40-man roster. The 29-year-old has shown some flashes of being a potent hitter, and given his decent defensive versatility, he'll look to garner a bigger role in another organization rather than spending another year in the Braves' minor league system.

Braves' Brandon Snyder: Recalled to majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was recalled to the majors Thursday.

Following the departure of Jeff Francoeur in Wednesday's trade, Snyder will take the vacant spot on the major league roster. He's struggled in limited action in the big leagues this year, but the 28-year-old has excelled with Triple-A Gwinnett, posting a .327/.358/.442 slash line in 43 games this season.

Braves' Brandon Snyder: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was designated for assignment by the Braves on Sunday.

Snyder was given a brief opportunity to serve as a reserve infielder in Atlanta, but he was unable to take advantage in limited at-bats, posting a .206 on-base percentage since his June 2 call-up. He'll now get the boot from the 40-man roster to allow the team to add some bullpen depth.

Braves' Brandon Snyder: Strikes out in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder appeared in Saturday's 9-5 loss to the Phillies in the sixth as a pinch-hitter, but left two runners stranded while striking out to end the inning.

The backup first baseman, who is batting .188 with 7 RBI in 32 at-bats this season, has now struck out in four straight appearances. In a limited role, Snyder has contributed just one hit -- an RBI double -- since the All-Star break.

Braves' Brandon Snyder: Starting Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder is in the lineup and batting seventh for Monday's game against the Mets.

Snyder is hitting .267 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in 11 games this season and will make just his second start of the season for Atlanta. The 29-year-old will have a tough matchup with Mets' ace Noah Syndergaard who has a 2.08 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 15 games this season.

Braves' Brandon Snyder: Called up from Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Snyder was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Snyder missed a few weeks in early-May due to a hamstring injury, but has since returned and hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games for the Gwinnett Braves, with five multi-hit efforts along the way. He'll take the roster spot of Gordon Beckham, who was placed on the DL Thursday due to a hamstring strain.
