Twins' Austin Adams: Signs minors deal with Minnesota
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams returned to the Twins as a non-roster invitee Tuesday.

Adams struggled in his 16.2 innings for the Tigers last season, recording a 7.02 ERA and 13 walks. Prior to being claimed off waivers by Detroit in May, the 33-year-old pitched 18 innings for Triple-A Rochester within the Twins' organization, posting a more modest 4.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 28:6 K:BB. The veteran right-hander will have an opportunity to impress the big-league coaching staff this spring, but he will likely return to the minors given the amount of experienced arms that make up the Minnesota bullpen.

Tigers' Austin Adams: Loses 40-man roster spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Tigers designated Adams for assignment after Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox.

A late-May waiver pickup from the Twins, Adams turned in a 5.14 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB across 13 appearances out of the Detroit bullpen spanning 14 innings. He'll be exposed to waivers once more but will likely stick in the Detroit organization and report to Triple-A Toledo if he goes unclaimed. The Tigers don't plan to formally announce a replacement on the 40-man roster for Adams until the club resumes its post-All-Star-break schedule July 12 in Kansas City.

Tigers' Austin Adams: Picked up by Detroit
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Tigers claimed Adams off waivers from the Twins on Sunday.

Adams made just two appearances with Minnesota this season, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks over 2.2 innings in relief before being designated for assignment. Since he doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, the Tigers will need to clear a spot for Adams on the active roster.

Adams had his contract selected from Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

As expected, Adams will join the big-league bullpen ahead of Thursday's series opener in Seattle. Addison Reed (thumb) was designated for assignment to free up a spot on the 40-man for the veteran right-hander, who compiled a 4.50 ERA and 14.0 K/9 in 18 innings at Triple-A before earning the promotion.

Twins' Austin Adams: Likely to be called up
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Minnesota is likely to call up Adams from Triple-A Rochester before Thursday's game against Seattle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The Twins will need to add him to the 40-man roster to make the move. Adams has a 4.50 ERA at Triple-A but a 3.32 FIP and 14.0 K/9 in 18 innings. The 32-year old journeyman is likely to work in long relief and may not be in the majors for too long as the Twins continue to shuffle their bullpen.

Angels' Austin Adams: Doesn't make Opening Day roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams didn't make the Opening Day roster and was designated for assignment Saturday.

Adams' poor 2016 showing carried over to spring training as he allowed eight runs over 11 innings (11 games). Although the possibility exists that he could make his way back up to the majors during the upcoming season, he'll likely serve as organizational depth.

Angels' Austin Adams: Acquired by Angels
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was acquired by the Angels for cash considerations Friday.

The recently DFA'd Adams was hit hard over 19 appearances with the Indians last season, notching a 9.82 ERA and 1.85 WHIP in 18.3 innings. However, he's just one year removed from a much stronger campaign in which he recorded a 3.78 ERA and a more palatable 1.50 WHIP. If Adams can regain his 2015 form, he could be a serviceable middle reliever in Anaheim.

Indians' Austin Adams: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was designated for assignment by the Indians on Tuesday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

A spot was needed with Boone Logan's signing becoming official and Adams was the roster casualty. The 30-year-old struggled to a 9.82 ERA in 19 appearances with the Indians last season, but he had a 41:9 K:BB in 37.2 innings at Triple-A and he can pump his fastball in at over 96 mph on average. Adams figures to draw interest while on waivers.

Indians' Austin Adams: Recalled from Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The right-hander will come up to provide depth to the Indians' bullpen after finishing out his time with Columbus with a minuscule 0.71 second-half ERA. Adams finished with 63 strikeouts in 44.1 innings in the minors this year, but probably won't see enough high-leverage work to be a reliable source of holds.

Indians' Austin Adams: Optioned to Triple-A Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Adams will head back to Triple-A to work on his development after a failure of a stint with the Indians. The 29-year-old gave up 10 earned runs in just 7.2 innings of relief while striking out three batters. He will be replaced by right-handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong, who was recalled in a corresponding move.

Indians' Austin Adams: Has been recalled Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was promoted back to the big league club Thursday.

Adams was sent back down to Triple-A Columbus about a month ago after spending two weeks with the Indians, where he compiled a 4.50 ERA through 7.2 innings of work. During his time in the majors this year he only recorded five strikeouts, but his WHIP was 1.17 in the brief seven appearances he made. Adams will add an extra right-handed arm to the bullpen, but could make the return trip to Columbus again this season when the Indians need a fresh arm.

Indians' Austin Adams: Sent down Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was sent down to the minors Tuesday, Nick Camino of WTAM reports.

Adams has proven to be a solid option in Cleveland's bullpen, working to a 2.35 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 7.2 innings, but the club needed to clear room on the major league roster to make way for Tuesday's starter Cody Anderson. The reliever will head back to Triple-A Columbus, but he'll likely get another chance in the majors at some point this season.

Indians' Austin Adams: Thrives with Columbus as Cleveland bullpen struggles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams has pitched well with Triple-A Columbus this season so far, not allowing a run while earning a win and two saves in four appearances.

In 4.2 innings, Adams has a 7:2 K:BB to go along with a 1.19 WHIP and 0.00 ERA. Meanwhile, the two guys in high-leverage roles for Cleveland, Cody Allen and Bryan Shaw, have ERA's higher than 8.50. If Shaw and Allen continue to struggle, Adams may find his way up to the Cleveland bullpen.

Indians' Austin Adams: Optioned to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Adams was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The Indians announced Saturday that Joba Chamberlain will make the Opening Day roster, which may have been what took Adams out of the equation. Adams has been effective this spring, striking out nine batters in 10.1 innings, but he'll start the season in Columbus. If one of the Indians' relievers struggles early this year, Adams would be a candidate for a call-up given he made 28 appearances at the big league level last year.

Indians bring up P Austin Adams, DFA veteran P Scott Atchison
by Marty Gitlin |

The Indians relief corps got a lot younger Tuesday when Austin Adams was promoted from Triple-A Columbus and fellow right-hander Scott Atchison was designated for assignment.

Adams proved impressive in his last stint with the team. His fastball peaked at 100 mph and he compiled a 2.38 ERA.

The 39-year-old Atchison began the season on a roll, even earning appearances as the setup man, before collapsing. He has allowed 10 earned runs in his last nine innings pitched.
