Rumbelow, who was recently added to the Yankees' 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, spent all of last season in the minors after missing almost all of 2016 due to Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old split time between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a combined 1.12 ERA and 0.80 WHIP across 40.1 innings. He's looking to make it back to the majors for the first time since 2015 -- when he compiled a 4.02 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 15.2 innings with the Yankees -- and should have a clearer path in Seattle.
Rumbelow was added to the 40-man roster Monday, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
Rumbelow split the 2017 season between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He threw 29 innings across 17 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Over said games he posted a shining 0.62 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. After missing almost the entire 2016 campaign due to Tommy John surgery, Rumbelow will aim to build upon his recent performance during the upcoming season and reappear in the majors for the first time since 2015.
Rumbelow (elbow) was activated off the DL at the beginning of the month and sent to Double-A Trenton.
Rumbelow had been sidelined since April of 2016 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but the 25-year-old didn't show any rust in retiring the only three batters he faced in his season debut Friday. The righty has some experience working out of the bullpen for the big league club, but after missing about 14 months, he'll likely stay down in the minors for the time being.
Rumbelow (elbow) pitched in a simulated game Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
Rumbelow went under the knife for Tommy John surgery last April, but having recently passed the 12-month mark, it appears as though he's gearing up for a return. The 25-year-old reliever spent 17 games with the Yankees in 2015, but even after the likely lengthy rehab stint he faces, Rumbelow figures to stay down in the minors once healthy. In his last stop there, the righty worked to a 4.27 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 52.2 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Rumbelow (elbow) was reassigned to minor league camp Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Rumbelow played in just one game in all of the 2016 season as he had to undergo Tommy John surgery. Once healthy, the 25-year-old should serve as organizational depth.
