Ventura (elbow) struck out two and worked around two hits and no walks over two scoreless innings in his first start Sunday for Single-A St. Lucie following his reinstatement from the 60-day injured list. Ventura, who missed the entire 2021 season while recovering from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last spring, was cleared to debut for St. Lucie after making a rehab start in the rookie-level Florida Complex League earlier this month. Mets' Jordany Ventura: Recovering from Tommy John surgery
Ventura had Tommy John surgery in the spring, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. As Eddy notes, Ventura seemed poised for a potential breakout this season after impressing during minor-league spring training, but he will now be sidelined into the 2022 season. Ventura, 21, logged a 3.78 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 54 strikeouts in 52.1 innings across three rookie levels in 2019.... See More ... See Less
