The Nationals reassigned Gushue to minor-league camp Monday, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports. Gushue made his MLB debut with the Cubs in 2021, seeing action in two games. He was outrighted off the 40-man roster in July and elected free agency this offseason before signing with the Nationals on a minor-league deal in February. Gushue is expected to serve as organizational catching depth at Triple-A Rochester for most of the 2022 season.... See More ... See Less

Nationals' Taylor Gushue: Gets chance with Nationals
Gushue signed a minor-league deal with the Nationals on Wednesday, according to the MLB transaction log. Gushue spent the 2021 season in the Cubs organization, earning the majority of his playing time at Triple-A Iowa while hitting .223/.295/.377 across 277 plate appearances. He appeared in only two games at the big-league level and is likely to serve as organization depth for Keibert Ruiz and Riley Adams behind the dish in Washington.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Taylor Gushue: Outrighted to Triple-A
Gushue cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. Gushue was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Monday but will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. He'll report to Iowa, where he has a .272/.328/.440 slash line with five homers, 27 RBI and 14 runs in 36 games.... See More ... See Less -

Cubs' Taylor Gushue: Contract selected Wednesday
Gushue's contract was selected by the Cubs on Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports. Gushue served as a non-roster invitee during camp this spring and will now serve as the Cubs' backup catcher after Jose Lobaton (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday. Gushue hit .272 with five home runs and 27 RBI in 36 games with Triple-A Iowa to begin the year, but he hasn't yet made his major-league debut.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Taylor Gushue: Receives camp invite from Cubs
Gushue signed a minor-league deal with the Cubs on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. The 27-year-old was in Washington's 60-man player pool last year and spent the entire season at the alternate training site. Gushue had an .875 OPS in 74 games at Triple-A in 2019 and has yet to make his big-league debut.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Taylor Gushue: Moves into roster pool
The Nationals added Gushue to their 60-man roster pool Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. The 27-year-old backstop provides Washington with another depth option behind the plate after Welington Castillo (personal) announced last week that he would opt out of the 2020 season. The Nationals are expected to rely heavily on the tandem of Yan Gomes and Kurt Suzuki behind the plate, so unless one of those two catchers misses time during the 60-game season, Gushue likely won't be much of a factor for Washington. Gushue has yet to appear at the MLB level but turned in a productive season with Triple-A Fresno in 2019, slashing .312/.358/.517 over 268 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less
