What you need to know about the Grizzlies

The Grizzlies didn't have too much trouble with the Miami Heat on the road on Monday as they won 105-90. Center Steven Adams was the offensive standout of the game for Memphis, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Adams was one of five Grizzlies -- all starters -- who scored in double-figures.

The Grizzlies are still without Ja Morant (knee), while Kyle Anderson (back) is listed as doubtful. Memphis has won five straight games since Morant has been sidelined as every player is doing a little more to fill the void of the team's leader in points and assists. One of those players is Jaren Jackson Jr. who is showing why he was a top-five pick a few years ago as he's averaged 19.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and shot a blistering 48.4 percent from beyond the arc with Morant sidelined.

What you need to know about the Mavericks

Meanwhile, it was close but no cigar for Dallas as it fell 102-99 to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. The Mavs had a 17-point lead in the third quarter but couldn't hold on for the win. Small forward Reggie Bullock wasn't much of a difference maker for Dallas; Bullock played for 28 minutes but put up just six points on 3-for-10 shooting.

Dallas has uncharacteristically struggled on the offensive end this season, ranking 22nd in offensive efficiency and 25th in points per game. Luka Doncic is putting up good numbers overall but his points per game and field-goal percentage are his lowest since his rookie year. Kristaps Porzingis is averaging 19.5 points per game, but that average is his lowest in five years.
