I'm not quite sure what you're supposed to do with today's NBA rules when trying to defend Kyrie Irving. Since you can't hand-check or make much contact on the perimeter, the Cleveland Cavaliers' star point guard is able to dazzle the crowd with his dribble, confuse you with the game of Three Card Monte he plays with the ball, and then get to the basket with his dribble and finish with great success.

And sometimes, he does all of this and then attacks you mercilessly with his off-hand, which adds just another dimension to the problems you have in trying to defend him. In the Cavs' big win over the San Antonio Spurs Saturday night, Irving put on quite the show as he scored 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting. And the unfair thing is he did so much of it with his left hand.

You look in those highlights and the defenders do a pretty solid job in staying with him despite the bevy of moves he puts on the Spurs. You have to feel pretty good as a defender when that happens, except for the fact that he then just goes to his left hand and you just have to hope he put the wrong spin on it.

It's like facing the Dread Pirate Roberts on the basketball court.
