Considering they had the No. 1 overall pick in 2014 and are using a journeyman quarterback as the starter for now, it's not likely that many people are going to be picking the Texans to win the AFC South. In fact, it might be difficult to find many observers who think Houston will end up anywhere but the division's basement by season's end.

But still, positive news is positive news, and at this point, the Texans will take it. On Wednesday, the team pulled linebacker Brian Cushing off the PUP list, allowing him to practice for the first time this season. Also returning to practice Wednesday were a couple fairly important players for the team's offense: receiver Andre Johnson and running back Arian Foster.

While Johnson has missed the past two weeks with a bum hamstring and Foster hasn't been seen much since he injured his hamstring late last month, the news of Cushing's revival was ultra-positive.

He hasn't been on the field since Week 7 of last year when he broke his leg and tore his LCL. Cushing also missed the final 11 games of the 2012 season after tearing his ACL.

Cushing said recently that he knows he'll be ready to play by Week 1. Looks like Wednesday's development keeps him on that track.
