Peyton Manning says he's excited to see Andre Caldwell's attitude. (USATSI)
Quarterback Peyton Manning recently spent time working out at Duke University with wide receivers Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. It was an opportunity to get to know Welker, the Broncos' newest big-name acquisition, and knock the rust off with Thomas and Decker, two players who benefited from playing with Manning a season ago.

Innocuous enough, right?

Sure -- unless you're forgotten Broncos wideout Andre Caldwell, who took to Twitter (of course he did) to voice his displeasure at being left behind.

The almost always unflappable Manning was quick to assuage Caldwell's concerns.

“I’m excited to see Bubba’s competitive attitude,” Manning said via PFT, referring to Caldwell by his nickname. “I hope he’s able to turn that into a productive offseason and has a good season for us this year.”

That's some high-level Jedi stuff there. And it might require that type of focus for Caldwell to get more involved in the Broncos' offense. In 2012, his first year in Denver, Caldwell had one catch for 18 yards. In three previous NFL seasons, all with the Bengals, Caldwell has 124 receptions for 1,172 yards and six touchdowns.
