There is no player in the NFL like Cam Newton. He's just a different type of athlete. And he showed it with a historical day on Sunday, leading the Panthers to a last-minute 38-35 win over the Giants to keep the Panthers unbeaten at 14-0.

Newton's scramble in the game's waning seconds to pick up a first down set up Graham Gano's game-winning field goal as time expired. The rush also gave him 100 rushing yards for the day, which combined with his 340 passing yards, puts him in rarified historical air.

He is the first player in NFL history to post 340 yards in the air and 100 rush yards in the same game. He became just the second player in NFL history with 300 pass yards and 100 rush yards in the same game, joining Russell Wilson from 2014.

Because Newton also threw five passing touchdowns, he became the first player in NFL history with 100 rushing yards and 5 passing touchdowns.

And, as you can likely deduce, Cam is now the first player in NFL history with 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards and 5 passing touchdowns in the same game. It's an unfathomably massive day for the Panthers quarterback.

Less than a week ago we highlighted Cam's dominance as a red-zone threat and his rushing touchdown prowess.

He's an entirely different weapon than the NFL's ever seen. Sunday was the latest example why he's the league's most valuable player right now.

Decent day for Cam. (USATSI)
