Falcons vs. Giants odds, line: Monday Night Football picks, predictions from proven expert who's 27-13 on Atlanta games
RJ White has his finger on the pulse of Matt Ryan and the Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons host the New York Giants in the final game on the Week 7 NFL schedule. Despite boasting players like Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley, the Falcons are just 2-4 this season with a point differential of minus-4.2. Meanwhile, the Giants, who have Odell Beckham and Saquon Barkley anchoring their offense, have merely one win to show for it. Both teams are 2-4 against the spread. The hometown Falcons are 4-point favorites, the same as where the line opened. The over-under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, has dropped from 54 to 52 in the latest Falcons vs. Giants odds. Before you lock in any Falcons vs. Giants picks, check out what SportsLine expert RJ White has to say.
White was SportsLine's most profitable NFL analyst last season and returned $100 bettors a profit of nearly $2,000. The renowned prognosticator has cashed big in the prestigious Las Vegas SuperContest two of the last three years.
White has a strong history of success in handicapping these teams, which includes an impressive 27-13 mark on picks involving the Falcons. Anyone who has followed him is way, way up.
Just last week, White advised SportsLine members that Atlanta would have too much firepower for NFC South foe Tampa Bay and pull away in a shootout. The Falcons did just that, and anyone who followed White's recommendation notched another winner.
Now, he has scrutinized Giants vs. Falcons from every possible angle to reveal a strong point-spread pick that he's sharing at SportsLine.
White knows both clubs are looking for answers as they remained mired in disappointing seasons that appear bound to fall short of lofty projections.
For the second straight year, the Giants find themselves stuck in a dreadful season while their restless fan base hasn't been shy in grumbling about the competence of the coach or the skills of a fading quarterback. First-year coach Pat Shurmur has publicly stood by Eli Manning even though the quarterback has failed to make down-field plays in the passing game to help sustain drives. Manning is completing 68.7 percent of his passes, but at just 7.2 yards per attempt.
One bright spot has been rookie running back Saquon Barkley, who has gained more than 100 yards from scrimmage in each of his first six NFL games. The Penn State product had 130 rushing yards with a touchdown and 99 receiving yards against the Eagles. Even so, many observers still question whether the franchise made a mistake in drafting the versatile back No. 2 overall instead of addressing the quarterback position.
Despite all of New York's struggles, there's no guarantee Atlanta will cover on Monday Night Football as it attempts to fix its own shortcomings.
The Falcons' offense more closely resembles the record-setting unit of two years ago than the one that finished in the middle of the pack last year. They are scoring 27.8 points per game and gaining an average of 397.3 yards. Matt Ryan is on pace for MVP-caliber numbers, with 1,956 yards and 14 touchdowns against two interceptions. He is completing 69.6 percent of his attempts.
But the Falcons have been hampered by a leaky defense that is near the bottom of the league in almost every statistical category. Atlanta ranks No. 29 in total defense behind a unit that is allowing 32 points and 417.2 yards per game. The Falcons have allowed 70 combined points and 891 yards of offense while splitting their last two games with the Steelers and Bucs.
We can tell you White is leaning toward the Over, but he has scrutinized Falcons vs. Giants from every angle, crunched the stats, and found a crucial X-factor that will determine the spread outcome. He's only sharing it at SportsLine.
