Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Ruled out for Week 5
Barkley (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest at Jacksonville.
Barkley didn't practice this week in the wake of suffering a right hamstring injury this past Sunday against the Rams, so his lack of availability for Week 5 doesn't come as a surprise. With Tank Bigsby (abdomen) on injured reserve, it'll be the Will Shipley show out of the Eagles backfield Sunday, while Dameon Pierce also is on hand for RB reps that linger, and Jaydon Blue and Carson Steele are options to be elevated from the practice squad. Barkley's next chance for game action is Sunday, Oct. 18 versus the Panthers.

Barkley hasn't practiced this week and isn't likely to play against the Jaguars on Sunday, leaving Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue as Philadelphia's backfield options for Week 5. Shipley is the favorite to start and get most of the snaps.

Head coach Nick Sirianni remained mum Monday regarding Barkley's status, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic, though Ian Rapoport of NFL Network later reported that the running back is considered week-to-week with an injury that's not deemed to be long term. After exiting early in Sunday's loss to the Rams with the hamstring issue, Barkley now appears likely to miss at least some time. However, the Eagles -- and Barkley's fantasy managers -- can breathe a sign of relief since the injury doesn't appear likely to sideline the star running back for a substantial period of time. Barkley carried twice for eight yards and hauled in his lone target for a two-yard reception before departing Sunday's contest in the first quarter with the hamstring issue.
