Craig Reynolds wasn't even on an NFL roster as of Thursday morning, hoping to impress the Detroit Lions in a tryout. Less than 48 hours later, the Kutztown University product scored a touchdown for the Lions in the fourth quarter of Detroit's preseason opening loss to the Buffalo Bills

Reynolds scored a 24-yard touchdown for the Lions with 7:38 left in the fourth quarter, Detroit's lone touchdown of the night. He led all running backs with six carries for 49 yards, quite the feat for a player that was a free agent just a day prior.

"I introduced myself in the huddle at one point. They were like, 'Yo, what's your name?'" Reynolds said after the game, via ESPN's Eric Woodyard. "A couple coaches introduced themselves to me on the sideline during the game.

"It's definitely crazy, but they've just made it real easy. I've been comfortable being here."

How unfamiliar was Reynolds to his Lions teammates? Starting quarterback Jared Goff admitted he wasn't sure if he met his newest teammate yet. He certainly made an impression on Lions head coach Dan Campbell, especially since Reynolds was learning the playbook on the fly.

"We'll see where this goes, but he's got that look in his eye and he did when he walked in yesterday," Campbell said, via Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. "You could tell, it's like, 'Hey, man, I'm here to compete. I'll know enough of this playbook, you can put me in there.'

"During the game, I'm asking (running backs coach Duce Staley), 'What can this guy do?' (Staley said) 'He's pretty good. He's pretty good, coach. He's pretty good. I think he can do it.' And he did."

Reynolds has just one carry for four yards in the NFL. Going undrafted out of Kutztown, the Willow Grove, Pennsylvania native was back in his home state this week before the Lions called him. He may end up staying longer than Tuesday, when teams have to cut their rosters down to 85 players.

"I went out there and, you know, all week the coaches said let it rip," Reynolds said. "Don't think just play. Special teams, on offense. And I just said, 'You know, let's go ham. Just go, just go. That's it.'"
