Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman met with the media on Thursday and announced that the team will buy out forward Rostislav Olesz and defenseman Steve Montador if they are not claimed on waivers.

Olesz had one year remaining on his contract at $3.125 million. He was traded to the Blackhawks last offseason from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Brian Campbell. In his two years with the Blackhawks, he appeared in just six games and did not record a single point. He spent the rest of his time the past two years playing for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Montador still had two years remaining on his deal at a cap hit of $2.75 million per year.

Like Olesz, he also spent the 2012-13 season playing for Rockford. He last played in the NHL during the 2011-12 season, scoring five goals to go with nine assists.
