Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Scores career-high 27 points
Flynn tallied 27 points (8-22 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block in 45 minutes during Sunday's 125-113 loss to the Pacers.
The 23-year-old has now scored double-digit points in five straight games, a span in which he's averaging 19.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 3.2 three-pointers and 1.6 steals. Flynn provided top-200 fantasy value over the last calendar month despite inconsistent minutes and going in and out of the starting lineup. The rookie has a legitimate shot at starting in the upcoming 2021-2022 NBA season with Kyle Lowry potentially leaving Toronto in free agency.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Drops 26 in start
Flynn had 26 points (11-21 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists and two steals in Friday's loss to Dallas.
Making another start with several Raptors regulars resting, Flynn played 37 minutes and combined with Jalen Harris to account for 57 of the Raptors' 110 points. It was a nice bounceback effort for Flynn, who shot just 5-of-19 from the field on his way to 16 points in 41 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday. He'll likely see an elevated role again in Sunday's season finale against the Pacers.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Struggles with shot in loss
Flynn posted 16 points (5-19 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven assists, four rebounds and a steal across 41 minutes in Thursday's 114-102 loss to the Bulls.
Flynn's audition to be the team's next point guard continued with almost every starter sitting, a trend that may continue until the end of the season. The team needs a viable replacement if they intend on parting ways with Kyle Lowry, and right now, Flynn appears to be the frontrunner. Despite a poor shooting night, his immense shot volume allowed him to convert enough for a decent scoring total. One should expect him to see similar minutes as the season draws to a close.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Tallies three triples
Flynn scored 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-9 3Pt) to go along with four assists, three rebounds and one block across 29 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Clippers.
Flynn remained in the starting lineup for the second consecutive game and logged his highest minutes total in his last five contests. As a result, he was able to tally three triples for the second consecutive game. Flynn should continue to see plenty of opportunity to close the season, as the team appears likely to limit the workload of Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Scores 15 in start
Flynn accumulated 15 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in 25 minutes during Saturday's 109-99 loss to the Grizzlies.
The 22-year-old got the start with Kyle Lowry (rest) and Fred VanVleet (rest) out of the lineup and produced a solid all-around line. Flynn has played in 10 games as a starter this season, averaging 12.9 points, 5.6 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals. With the Raptors slipping out of playoff contention, the rookie may get more starts moving forward.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Starting vs. Grizz
Flynn will start Saturday's game against the Grizzlies.
As a starter this season, Flynn has averaged 12.7 points, 5.9 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 32.7 minutes. He's getting the nod due to the absences of Kyle Lowry (rest) and Fred VanVleet (rest).... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Playing time drops
Flynn logged 13 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 105-100 loss to the Clippers, finishing with one point (0-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist.
Though Toronto was missing Kyle Lowry (back) on Tuesday, Flynn still shifted to a bench role after starting each of the past three contests. Yuta Watanabe ended up picking up the start in the backcourt next to Fred VanVleet as part of an oversized lineup, leaving limited minutes available for Flynn off the bench. Unless the Raptors commit to holding out both Lowry and VanVleet for rest or minor injuries down the stretch, Flynn looks like he may struggle to regularly crack the 20-minute mark despite some relatively solid performances in recent weeks.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Performs well in relief
Flynn totaled 16 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, four assists and a steal across 32 minutes in Thursday's 121-111 loss to the Nuggets.
Flynn drew the start due to Fred VanVleet's (hip) absence and had an efficient night. VanVleet is a dynamic scorer who can create many off-the-ball opportunities for himself, but Flynn is more of a classic point guard who specializes in ball distribution. If Kyle Lowry's tenure with the Raptors comes to an end in the offseason, we may see Flynn jump into that role full-time.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: In starting lineup Thursday
Flynn will start Thursday's game against the Nuggets, Eric Koreen of The Athletic reports.
Flynn will get the start with Fred VanVleet (rest) on the sidelines. In his last four starts, Flynn has averaged 14.8 points on 36.2 percent shooting, 5.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 3.0 triples and 1.3 steals per game.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Goes for 18 points off bench
Flynn had 18 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 8-8 FT), five assists, five rebounds and two steals in Monday's win over the Cavs.
While Flynn's last two games temporarily knocked him off the fantasy radar, this was an encouraging performance -- especially with Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry both starting and playing over 30 minutes. Nick Nurse's rotations have been extremely difficult to predict, and trust, this season, so while Flynn's night-to-night role remains up in the air, he's proven he can return value when the minutes are there.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Productive run comes to end
Flynn finished with just five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one assist and one steal in 11 minutes during Wednesday's 114-103 victory over the Nets.
Flynn shifted back to the bench and based on what we saw, it appears his run of fantasy relevance may have come to a grinding halt. There is certainly a case to be made for him having some sporadic value moving forward, especially if the Raptors opt to continue their resting policy. However, at this stage, it is probably safe to set him free in competitive formats.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Shifting to bench
Flynn will come off the bench Wednesday against the Nets, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.
With most of the Raptors' regulars back in action, Flynn will shift to a bench role as Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet occupy the starting backcourt. Over his last four starts, Flynn averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 33.0 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Solid as fill-in point guard
Flynn compiled 15 points (6-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt), seven rebounds and five assists across 31 minutes in Sunday's 112-106 win over the Thunder.
Although Flynn's shooting percentage hasn't been stellar as Kyle Lowry's (rest) replacement, he's been able to keep the ball moving as the team's de facto floor-general. With a playoff berth potentially falling out of reach, expect Flynn to see extended time down the stretch, as Lowry is probably spending his last season in a Toronto uniform, and the team will need to kick the tires on Flynn and other reserve players.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Poor shooting night
Flynn scored 16 points (4-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT) to go along with seven assists, four rebounds and two steals in Wednesday's win over the Spurs.
Flynn finished second on the team in field-goal attempts, but he had a dreadful shooting night overall. He did manage to convert well from three-point rage, and Flynn has made nine triples combined across his last two games. Despite the poor efficiency, Flynn also showcased plenty of potential by racking up seven assists with no turnovers. Both Kyle Lowry (rest) and Fred VanVleet (suspension) are likely to return to action Friday, which means Flynn will likely see his role greatly reduced.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Scores 22 points Tuesday
Flynn had 22 points (8-18 FG, 6-13 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and two steals across 35 minutes in Tuesday's loss against the Hawks.
Flynn was an absolute menace from deep once again, though that has been a trend with the rookie in recent games -- he has made multiple three-point shots in five of his last six appearances, though the six treys represent a season-high mark for him. He is shooting 16-for-35 from beyond the arc during that span, good for an elite -- though probably unsustainable -- 45.7 percent of accuracy.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Starting Tuesday
Flynn will start Tuesday's game against the Hawks, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.
The 22-year-old will make his third start in the past four games with Kyle Lowry (rest) sitting out Tuesday. Flynn averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 37.0 minutes in his two previous starts this season.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Logs first double-double of career
Flynn compiled 20 points (8-14 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 assists, two rebounds and two steals across 39 minutes in Saturday's 135-115 win over the Cavaliers.
Flynn continued to take advantage of Toronto's backcourt absences and recorded his best game as a pro. Drafting solid guard support for their elites was a wise move by the organization, and the San Diego State product has proved to be a great return on investment. His production will be short-lived as Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry will return to action very soon, but this starting stint may earn him a bit more playing time moving forward.... See More ...
