Smith (back) is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers.
He is still on the 10-day injured list, but he previously said he expected to return when first eligible, which would have been Wednesday. Max Stassi is starting behind the dish and hitting ninth. Smith could return sometime during this weekend's series in Houston.
