Garcia was added to the Astros' 60-man player pool Sunday.

Garcia, who is not on the 40-man roster, is yet another promising arm in the Astros' system. The 23-year-old right-hander impressed at two stops in 2019, posting a 2.98 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 13.9 K/9 for Low-A Quad Cities and High-A Fayetteville. His inclusion in the player pool is an effort to continue his progression through the minor leagues, and Garcia is not expected to see any time in a major-league game in 2020. In 2018, Ben Badler of Baseball America chronicled the improvement in Garcia's fastball and described him as a strike thrower who commands the fastball well.
