Maples was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Maples has had trouble with walks at the big-league level this season, issuing nine free passes over 5.2 innings, but he has also struck out 10 batters and has allowed just one hit. He will provide some depth at the back end of the Cubs' bullpen.
