Phillies' Damon Jones: Protected from Rule 5 draft

Jones was added to the Phillies' 40-man roster Friday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Jones rapidly progressed through the minor-league ranks in 2019, and he was part of the team's 60-man roster in 2020. The southpaw will be protected from the Rule 5 draft, but he'll likely have to demonstrate more production against higher-level talent before debuting in the big leagues.
