Lake signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox on Friday, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
Lake spent 2016 with the Blue Jays, where he hit .231 in 318 plate appearances over 82 games with Triple-A Buffalo. He hit .284 in 254 major league plate appearances back in 2013, but he hasn't hit over .211 in any major league season since then. He'll simply serve as organizational depth in 2017 and figures to spend most of the season in Triple-A.
