The Tigers reassigned Garneau on Tuesday to their alternate training site in Toledo.
Garneau will be joined at the alternate site by fellow backstop Eric Haase after both players missed out on winning either of the available catching jobs with Detroit this spring. Both Garneau and Haase are expected to be part of the Triple-A Toledo roster when the minor-league season begins in May.
