Lin struck out eight while giving up two hits and walking one in six scoreless frames Sunday against Frisco during his first start for Double-A Amarillo. The undersized southpaw sits around only 90 mph with his fastball, but he has big-time offspeed stuff, with one of the best changeups in the minors and a pair of high-spin breaking balls. Lin had three double-digit strikeout games in his final six starts at High-A, registering a 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 52 strikeouts in 38.2 innings over that stretch. Diamondbacks' Yu-Min Lin: Success as 19-year-old at High-A
Lin has a 3.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 17 strikeouts in 11 innings over his last three starts for High-A Hillsboro. The 19-year-old undersized southpaw boasts a phenomenal changeup that has proved too much for most of the hitters he has faced lately. His first start of the season on April 15, in which he gave up three earned runs while walking two and only getting four outs, is dragging down his season numbers.
