Santana went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Monday's 3-2 win over the White Sox. Santana went yard once again Monday, tallying his fourth long ball in his last five games with a two-run homer off Garrett Crochet in the second inning. He's been on an absolute tear in his last five outings, batting .333 with 10 RBI. Despite the hot streak, Santana owns a poor .185/.265/.348 slash line through 102 plate appearances.... See More ... Twins' Carlos Santana: Hits first homer
Santana went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his first of the season, in Thursday's 6-3 victory over the White Sox. After a dreadful start to the campaign (.347 OPS and one extra base hit in his first 16 games), Santana is finally showing some signs of life at the plate. He's 4-for-18 with a double and home run in his last five games, which is good for a .778 OPS.... See More ... See Less -

Twins' Carlos Santana: Out of lineup again Wednesday

Twins' Carlos Santana: Everyday duty at 1B
Santana went 1-for-3 with a double in Sunday's loss at Kansas City. He's started all three games this season at first base and is 3-for-11 with a walk. Santana may get more playing time with Royce Lewis out a month or more with a quad injury as Alex Kirilloff has been used in the outfield the last two games with Willi Castro playing more third base. Santana did not bat leadoff against a left-handed starter in the season opener but could still be an option to lead off against southpaws as had been talked about in spring training. Santana looks set to play against both right-handed and left-handed pitching at first base with an occasional game at DH, while Kirilloff primarily will be used at DH and in the outfield and sit against most lefties.... Twins' Carlos Santana: Could bat leadoff against lefties
Santana is likely to bat leadoff against left-handed pitchers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. "I think he will hit leadoff. I don't know if it's going to be the whole year," manager Rocco Baldelli said this week. Santana looks set to be an everyday player at first base and will likely hit sixth or lower in the order against righties. Alex Kirilloff will also get time at first base, but will mostly be used at DH and will sit most days against left-handed pitchers. Santana has a career .819 OPS vs. lefties, including an .807 OPS last season. His ability to draw walks and takes pitches is viewed as a plus at the top of the lineup, but the Twins frequently change their batting orders under Baldelli, especially against lefties.... Twins' Carlos Santana: Could get everyday duty at 1B
Santana looks set to be used against both right-handed and left-handed pitching at first base with Alex Kirilloff primarily being used at DH, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Santana is hitting 6-for-17 with a home run in six games this spring. When the Twins signed Santana it was assumed he'd platoon with the lefty Kirilloff at first base, but this report makes it sound like Santana could be set for everyday duty. Kirilloff would then platoon with several right-handed batters at DH. Last season marked Santana's best year at the plate since 2019, as he slashed .240/.318/.429 with 23 homers and 86 RBI between the Pirates and Brewers.... See More ... See Less -

Last season marked Santana's best year at the plate since 2019, as he slashed .240/.318/.429 with 23 homers and 86 RBI between the Pirates and Brewers. The 37-year-old gives the Twins an experienced option in the first base/DH mix alongside younger players Alex Kirilloff (shoulder), Trevor Larnach and Jose Miranda (shoulder).... See More ... Santana (hand) is starting at first base and batting third in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series on Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks. Santana jammed his left (glove) hand while applying a hard tag Tuesday in the Brewers' Game 1 loss to Arizona, but he wasn't forced to make an early exit and is right back in action Wednesday as Milwaukee sticks with the same exact starting nine and batting order against the visiting D-backs.... Brewers' Carlos Santana: Churns out three hits
Santana went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBI and a run in Friday's 16-1 win over the Marlins. Santana doubled home Christian Yelich for the fourth run in the Brewers' 12-run second inning and then plated Yelich again on a fifth-inning base hit. The 37-year-old has just three home runs to his name since Aug. 20, but he's hitting .275 and getting on base at a .353 clip over that stretch to keep his spot secure in Milwaukee's everyday lineup.... Brewers' Carlos Santana: Not in lineup Thursday
Santana is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game at St. Louis. Rowdy Tellez will start at first base and bat fifth versus the Cardinals and right-hander Miles Mikolas. Santana grabs a bit of rest after going 0-for-4 in the Brewers' win Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Carlos Santana: Takes seat Thursday
Santana is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Marlins. Rowdy Tellez will start at first base and bat cleanup as the Brewers take on impressive young right-hander Eury Perez. Santana is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs. Santana recorded four homers, 12 RBI and a .935 OPS over his last 12 games, but per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he also sprained his ankle in Sunday's victory over the Padres and will get at least one day to rest and recover. Rowdy Tellez will start at first base for the Brewers on Monday night.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Carlos Santana: Blasts 17th home run
Santana went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's victory over Texas. Santana's seventh inning blast put the Brewers in front to stay. In 18 games since being traded from the Pirates, Santana only has twelve hits in 74 at-bats for a .162 batting average, but five of those hits have left the yard. The imminent return of Rowdy Tellez (finger) could impact the veteran's playing time, but Santana figures to still be the primary option at first base with Tellez filling the DH spot.... See More ...
