We're through Week 1 of the 2021-22 NBA season, and Week 2 began on Monday with a nine-game slate. The players who had productive starts got snapped early this week, but there are plenty of other options worth pursuing before midweek matchups. We've taken a look at the roster percentages of players across every position to identify who should be priorities before Monday's first tip-off at 7 p.m. ET.
Here are some of the top targets you should consider on the waiver wire.
Cam Reddish, F, ATL (58% rostered)
Contract-year Cam is a thing. While the young wing missed a large chunk of last year because of health issues, he's back with a vengeance in 2021-22 and wants to prove his worth. He's become Atlanta's spark plug off the bench and is providing highly efficient offense. Reddish is averaging 19.5 points per contest through two appearances on 48.3 percent shooting from the field and a ridiculous 66.7 percent from deep. He's a bit of a reach as a readily available waiver wire target at close to 60 percent rostership, but he should probably be less available than he is now.
Seth Curry, G, PHI (55% rostered)
Curry has bounced back from his slow start and appears set to establish himself as Philadelphia's third scoring option while Ben Simmons is sidelined. He's scored 23 or more points in each of his last two outings and is shooting 76.5 percent from three. Curry has shot at least 45 percent from three for three straight seasons and is likely to eclipse his career-high scoring average of 12.8 points if Simmons doesn't play for the Sixers this year.
Gary Trent Jr., G, TOR (54% rostered)
Trent might not be the most appealing option in Roto leagues right now, as he's shooting 33.3 percent from the field and three. His shot volume and growing role could make him a solid fit in points leagues, though. The Raptors have ramped up Trent's playing time over their last two games to improve defensive intensity. Trent hasn't been shy on offense over this span. He's put up 27 shots on 68 minutes in his last two games. His scoring upside could be valuable while Pascal Siakam works his way back from injury, and his effort on defense could give him value on the other side of the ball. Trent is averaging 2.7 steals per game so far.
Franz Wagner, F, ORL (40% rostered)
The Magic won't be good this year, but their latest lottery pick makes the most of every opportunity. Wagner leads Orlando this season with 35 minutes per game and has churned out a solid stat line. The rookie swingman is averaging 12.7 points and 5.0 rebounds on 50 percent shooting. He's also converting 38.5 percent of his threes on 4.3 attempts per game. Wagner should drop off when the Magic get healthy on the wing, but he has a clear path to a prominent role early on.
Honorable Mention
T.J. McConnell, G, IND (39% rostered)
McConnell was a borderline top-20 point guard in points leagues last year and is off to a decent start this season. The backup playmaker's averages of 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds don't pop, but his mark of 5.7 assists per game could give Roto teams a boost. He's a pesky defender on and off the ball who finished first in total steals with 128 last campaign. Indiana's eight-man rotation could help him return big-time numbers. Malcolm Brogdon is the Pacers' only other playmaking guard.
