Nurkic said last week that he's already shed 35 pounds this offseason, Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post reports.

Nurkic has made getting in shape a major priority as he prepares for his third NBA season, and his dedication to losing weight should aid his mobility and durability. The center took a step back in 2015-16, appearing in only 32 contests following knee surgery and related knee soreness, while averaging 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 assists in 17.1 minutes per game. More troubling to his fantasy prospects than the injury was the emergence of Nikola Jokic, who submitted a fantastic rookie season and now looks like the team's franchise center. Jokic's presence will create a built-in roadblock to Nurkic's playing time, even if the Bosnian big man is able to keep himself healthy during the upcoming campaign.
