Byron made his season debut in Thursday night's 4-3 loss to the Oilers. He skated on the fourth line and had a hit in 9:46.
While the Canadiens were winning nine straight to start the season, Byron remained inactive. After the Canadiens' first loss Tuesday, Byron entered the active lineup in place of Alexander Semin.
