Berube will start in net Tuesday night against the visiting Wild, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Berube getting the starting nod comes as a surprise. The Isles have healthy netminders in Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss ahead of Berube on the depth chart and they should be well rested following the seven-day layoff due to the All-Star Break. It's possible that the Isles are showcasing Berube with the trade deadline looming, but then again, Berube is one day removed from a conditioning stint in the AHL, so perhaps the team is eager to see how he will hold up since his recent battle with a lower-body injury.
