The Red Wings acquired Verbeek and a 2021 fifth-round draft pick via trade from the Canadiens for Jon Merrill on Sunday.
Verbeek has played seven games with AHL Laval this season, recording three points and a plus-4 rating. The 23-year-old could stick with Laval for the rest of the season, though the Red Wings may opt to bring him to AHL Grand Rapids.
