Maenalanen signed with SCL Tigers of the Swiss National League on Thursday, per CBS.
Maenalanen failed his physical on the eve of the Avalanche's training camp and was released from his tryout offer. He'll now head to Europe to extend his playing career. At 29 years old, he may not get another NHL chance.
