The 17th at TPC Sawgrass saw a rare hole-in-one on Friday. USATSI

Will Wilcox's tee shot on the famed 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass was the 6,300th hit since Miguel Angel Jimenez made the last hole-in-one at the Island Green in 2002.

Wilcox took his highlighter-yellow golf ball and hit a knockdown 9-iron from 147 yards out with his unique, punchy motion, drawing the ball in perfectly to roll it into the back left pin position.

Since 1983, there have been only seven aces on the short 17th hole in 14,543 tee shots. Wilcox adds his name to this list of those to have made a hole-in-one on 17 -- Jimenez in 2002, Paul Azinger in 2000, Joey Sindelar in 1999, Fred Couples in 1997, Brian Claar in 1991 and Brad Fabel in 1986.

It was quite the moment for Mr. Wilcox, who celebrated with appropriate excitement along with the rest of his group and moved to 5 under for the tournament with the help of that hole-in-one.
