SportsLine USA, Inc. Announces Executive Promotions
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (June 22, 1999)- SportsLine USA, Inc.
(NASDAQ:SPLN), the leading global Internet sports media company, today announced the promotions of four of its senior executives.
Mark Mariani was promoted to president, sales and marketing, from the position of executive vice president, sales, which he has held since joining the Company in April 1996. Mr. Mariani has both developed and managed SportsLine's advertising sales efforts, establishing sales offices throughout the country and creating a national sales force that has built an impressive list of national and worldwide advertisers. With his promotion, Mr. Mariani takes on the additional responsibility of overseeing the Company's marketing and branding efforts, and will also be responsible for SportsLine's fantasy sports and radio operations.
Andrew Sturner, who most recently held the position of senior vice president, business development, has been promoted to president, corporate and business development. Since he joined SportsLine USA in June 1995, Mr. Sturner has been responsible for managing all aspects of the Company's strategic and corporate development, including structuring and negotiating strategic relationships with organizations such as CBS, Microsoft, Netscape, IMG, Intel and Excite. Most recently, he and his team successfully negotiated SportsLine's long term strategic alliance with America Online. Mr. Sturner also is responsible for managing SportsLine's mergers and acquisition activities and international expansion efforts, and for overseeing the Company's e-commerce initiatives.
Thomas Jessiman has been appointed managing director of SportsLine Europe Limited, a recently created subsidiary of SportsLine USA, Inc. In his new role, Mr. Jessiman will oversee the development of the new family of SportsLine Europe Web sites, announced by the Company in May 1999. Mr. Jessiman joined SportsLine USA March 1997 as vice president, international. He was appointed senior vice president, operations, in February 1998.
Dan Leichtenschlag has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of operations, replacing Mr. Jessiman. Mr. Leichtenschlag joined the Company as director of operations in May 1995 and was promoted to the position of vice president of engineering in 1997, and given the additional title of chief technology officer in 1998. In his new role, Mr. Leichtenschlag will assume responsibility for production, program management, engineering and computer operations.
