Supremacy in the National League East will be at stake this weekend when the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves play a crucial three-game series at Truist Park in Atlanta. The series begins on Friday with Jacob deGrom taking the mound for the Mets against the Braves' Max Fried. New York (98-58) owns a slim one-game edge over Atlanta (97-59) in the division. Both teams are trying to win the East to avoid having to play a wild card series and having to face the top-seeded Dodgers in the NL Division Series. New York is a -125 favorite (risk $125 to win $100) in the latest MLB odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while Atlanta is a +105 underdog. The over/under for runs scored is 6.5. First pitch is set for 7:20 p.m. ET.

The game is one of 16 on the MLB schedule for Friday. Elsewhere in the majors, Seattle (-250), which hasn't reached the playoffs since 2001, can end the longest postseason drought in the four major North American sports leagues with a win over the A's, and the Phillies and Nationals play a doubleheader, with Philadelphia listed at -205 in Game 2 at 7:05 p.m. ET. Before making any MLB picks or parlays, be sure to see the predictions and betting advice from SportsLine's proven computer model.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times, and it enters the penultimate week of the regular season on a 14-3 run on top-rated money-line picks, returning almost $900 for $100 players. This is the same model that pegged the 2021 Atlanta Braves at 10-1 as one of three best bets to win it all last season. Anybody who has followed it has seen huge returns.

Now, the model has locked in four confident MLB best bets for Friday. They all involve games at 7:10 p.m. ET or later, so there's still time to get these MLB picks in. If you successfully parlay the picks, you'd be looking at a payout of more than 21-1. You can only see the model's MLB picks at SportsLine

The model, which ran 10,000 simulations on each of Friday's games, is predicting that Texas (+143) will knock off the Los Angeles Angels. The Rangers (66-89) sit in fourth place in the American League West just 3½ games behind the Angels (70-86) for third. Texas has won three of the last four meetings between the teams and 10 of the 16 this season.

The Rangers have had success against Los Angeles starter Reid Detmers this year. In four starts against Texas, the 23-year-old lefty is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA. The Rangers won three of the games that Detmers has started against them. In addition, against lefties this season Texas is 27-25 (and just 39-64 against righthanders) and has a .759 OPS, which ranks eighth in the majors. See who else to back right here.
