The Mets have signed reliever Drew Carpenter, Adam Rubin of ESPN reported Friday. The club assigned Carpenter to Double-A Binghamton.

Carpenter threw nine innings for Toronto this season, allowing a whopping four home runs and a 5.00 ERA. The 27-year-old has a 3.38 ERA for Triple-A Las Vegas but hasn't been able to break through to the majors for an extended stint. Since 2008, he has a 7.56 ERA in 33.1 MLB innings and a 3.37 ERA in 449 innings at the Triple-A level.
