Against the Nationals on Wednesday, Dodgers five-tooler Yasiel Puig hit a fly ball. That in isolation is not notable. What is notable, however, is that Mr. Puig undertook a (possibly) celebratory bat-flip moments before the ball wound up being caught in routine fashion well shy of the warning track.

Please bear premature witness ...

It's entirely possible that Mr. Puig was pleased by his mounting fly-ball tendencies, or it's possible he miscalculated the might of his clout.

While Mr. Puig's efforts and state of presumption are noted and appreciated, this import remains the towering example of the "bat-flip comeuppance."
