  • Rays' Jason Adam: Takes loss against Red Sox

Adam (2-1) allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one across one inning to take the loss Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Adam entered the game in the eighth inning with the score tied, 2-2. He settled in after allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, though he was unable to recover from his early struggles. The outing snapped a seven-appearance scoreless stretch, and Adam has been excellent overall this season by maintaining a 2.05 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 22 innings to go along with three saves and 10 holds.

  • Rays' Jason Adam: Forced to abandon save opportunity

Adam allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one across two-thirds of an inning to earn a hold Thursday against the Red Sox.

Adam entered the game in the ninth inning and was in line to earn the save, but he was forced to exit after the Rays' exceeded their limit for mound visits. He was laboring toward the end of the outing, having allowed each of the last two batters he faced to reach base. Though it wasn't his most dominant appearance, Adam has been excellent this season and has turned in six consecutive scoreless outings. He could be a candidate for save chances moving forward on occasions when Pete Fairbanks is unavailable or used in high-leverage situations earlier in a contest.

  • Rays' Jason Adam: Grabs third save

Adam tossed one scoreless inning to pick up the save Monday against the Red Sox. He walked one and struck out three.

With Pete Fairbanks unavailable due to a cut on his throwing hand, Adam was called upon Monday to close the door for his third save. Adam, who served as the Rays' main end-game option while Fairbanks was on the shelf prior to his return on May 11, will likely remain the preferred option until Fairbanks is ready to return from his most recent setback.

  • Rays' Jason Adam: Picks up second save

Adam gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 10-8 win over the Mets.

The right-hander has collected saves in back-to-back appearances, but he's looked a bit shaky both times. Adam served up a solo shot to Brett Baty on Friday before giving up a two-out double to Brandon Nimmo that brought the tying run to the plate. Adam's 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB through 15 innings on the season remain impressive, but with Pete Fairbanks (forearm) set to begin a rehab assignment next week, Adam should return to setup duties before long.

  • Rays' Jason Adam: Escapes with save

Adam allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Monday. He struck out two and earned a save over the Brewers.

Adam also hit a batter and faced a bases-loaded situation with two outs but still narrowly finished off the 1-0 win. It was his first save of the year after blowing his only other chance April 5 against the Rockies. Adam now owns a 1.29 ERA with a 12:4 K:BB and seven holds through 14 innings.
