The Angels added Arcia to their 60-man roster pool Friday. Arcia's lone big-league appearances came with the Angels back in the 2018 season, during which he slashed .204/.226/.427 over 41 games. He'll provide the Angels will an extra catcher in their roster pool after the team dealt away Jason Castro to the Padres prior to Monday's trade deadline.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Francisco Arcia: Back with Angels
Arcia signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Friday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports. Arcia spent the 2019 season bouncing around the minors, slashing .203/.250/.251 across a combined 73 games between Double-A and Triple-A. The backstop's only big-league experience came in 2018 with the Angels, when he appeared in 41 games and hit .204 with six home runs in 106 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Francisco Arcia: Gets minor-league deal from Yankees
Arcia signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Tuesday and was assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Arcia was released by the Cubs last week after slashing a lowly .181/.224/.213 across 171 plate appearances. He'll provide the Yankees with some organizational depth at catcher after Kyle Higashioka was summoned from Triple-A to replace the injured Gary Sanchez (groin) on the 25-man roster.... See More ... Cubs' Francisco Arcia: Sent to minors camp
The Cubs reassigned Arcia to their minor-league camp Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. Arcia enjoyed an initial flurry of success upon receiving his first big-league callup in 2018, but ultimately finished with a disappointing .204/.226/.427 slash line across 106 plate appearances with the Angels. After settling for a minor-league deal with the Cubs this winter, Arcia wasn't a serious threat to unseat Victor Caratini for the backup catcher job.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Francisco Arcia: Joins Cubs
Arcia signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs earlier in January, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Arcia's deal presumably includes an invitation to major-league spring training, where he'll have the opportunity to compete for a backup role at catcher. The 29-year-old reached the big leagues for the first time in 2018, slashing .204/.226/.427 across 106 plate appearances with the Angels.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Outrighted to minors
Arcia was outrighted from the 40-man roster Friday. It comes as a slight surprise that the Angels didn't elect to keep Arcia protected on their 40-man roster after the 29-year-old provided some value for the club this season. In 41 big-league games following his promotion in late July, Arcia hit .204/.226/.427 with six home runs and 23 RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Gets day off
Arcia is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports. Manager Mike Scioscia has made liberal use of all three of the team's catchers during the final week of the month, with each backstop drawing two starts apiece. Along with Arcia, fellow backstop Jose Briceno will sit out Sunday while Joe Hudson gets the nod behind the dish.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: On bench Saturday
Arcia is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Arcia, who will sit after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout and an RBI in Friday's win, is slashing .152/.152/.391 across 46 at-bats in September. Jose Briceno will start behind the plate and bat ninth for the Angels.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Takes seat Wednesday
Arcia is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers. Arcia will stick on the bench for a second straight game as Jose Briceno picks up a start behind the dish in his stead. The backstop is hitting .219/.242/.458 with six homers and 22 RBI in 37 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Bows out of starting nine
Arcia is not in Saturday's starting lineup against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Arcia will get the day off after starting behind the dish in both of the last two games. Jose Briceno is slated to handle the catching duties and bat ninth with Arcia on the bench.... See More ... Angels' Francisco Arcia: Goes deep Thursday
Arcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday against the Athletics. Arcia had a busy day, smacking his sixth home run of the season while also finding himself on the mound in mop-up duty. Things went better for him with a bat in his hand, though the homer was his first hit in his last 11 at-bats. Arcia remains the primary backstop for the Angels, but provides little besides sporadic power.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Out again Wednesday
Arcia is not in the lineup Wednesday against the A's. Arcia will stick on the bench for a second straight game as manager Mike Scioscia stacks right-handed hitters against southpaw Brett Anderson. Joe Hudson is starting behind the dish and hitting ninth in his stead.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: On bench Tuesday
Arcia is not in the lineup Tuesday against the A's, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Arcia will give way to Jose Briceno behind the dish after starting three of the past four games. The backstop is slashing just .148/.148/.407 with a pair of homers through nine games in September.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Out of lineup Sunday
Arcia is not starting Sunday against Seattle, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Arcia finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games. Jose Briceno will again start behind the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Takes seat Friday
Arcia isn't in Friday's starting nine against the Mariners. Arcia will get the day off with left-hander Roenis Elias slated to toe the rubber for Seattle. Jose Briceno is penciled into the starting lineup behind the dish and will bat ninth with Arcia on the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Explodes offensively
Arcia went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Rangers. Arcia was held out of the starting lineup for three consecutive games, but he made a strong case for more playing time with his offensive bonanza. The 28-year-old rookie now has five homers in just 75 at-bats, despite never hitting more than five at any level in the minors. While surprising, Arcia's brief power showing in the majors could result in deep-league fantasy value if the club opts to give him a larger role over the final weeks of the season.... See More ... Angels' Francisco Arcia: On bench vs. southpaw
Arcia is not in the lineup against the White Sox on Friday. Arcia will take a seat with left-hander Carlos Rodon on the mound for Chicago. In his absence, Jose Briceno will handle the catching duties and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Out of lineup Monday
Arcia is not starting Monday against Texas. Arcia seemed to be in line as the Angels' primary catcher with Rene Rivera dealt to Atlanta, though he's split time with Jose Briceno over the last four games. Briceno will get the call Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Francisco Arcia: Situated on bench Friday
Arcia is not in the lineup versus the Astros on Friday. Arcia will retreat to the bench after going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts during Thursday's victory. Jose Briceno will catch Jaime Barria and bat ninth in his stead.... See More ... See Less -
