What you need to know about the Trail Blazers

Portland has been in a dire situation for much of the second half of the season due to numerous injuries, but the Blazers were able to put that behind them in their win against Detroit on Monday, 119-115. Several players stepped up for Portland, but guard Brandon Williams led the charge with 23 points and six rebounds. Drew Eubanks has been one of the Blazers' top players in recent weeks following a foot injury to starting center Jusuf Nurkic, and he had another nice showing against the Pistons. Eubanks finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and a block.

Although Eubanks has been productive down low, Portland has seen a drop-off in its defense near the basket. The Trail Blazers have allowed 56.7 points in the paint per game over their last three, which is tied for fifth-most in the NBA. That might not be as big of an issue for Portland on Wednesday, as the Spurs have scored the second-fewest points in the paint during the same stretch, at 36.7. Portland will be down a number of players on Wednesday including Josh Hart (knee) and Anfernee Simons (knee).

What you need to know about the Spurs

San Antonio was able to capitalize against a Steph Curry-less Golden State Warriors team on Sunday, with a 110-108 win. Spurs shooting guard Josh Richardson looked sharp as he had 25 points in 27 minutes off the bench. Dejounte Murray was the top producer among the San Antonio starters, with 19 points and eight assists to go with six rebounds. San Antonio won despite shooting just 38.8 percent from the floor, but made enough three pointers to keep the offense moving.

Something San Antonio needs to be careful with is maintaining possession. The Trail Blazers have averaged a league-high 13 steals per game over their last three. The Spurs have been right at the league average in turnovers per game during that same period with 13 as well, but 9.7 of those have been steals by opponents.
