The Green Bay Packers are in their first year with Jordan Love as the starting quarterback, after a long run with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Just as with any change, especially one from a Super Bowl champion to a less experienced QB, there are some growing pains.
The growing pains may be more than what Packers fans expected, or hoped for, but head coach Matt LaFleur says they still believe in the former first-round pick.
LaFleur says while Love may have more pressure on him, it is up to the entire team to get in the end zone and find ways to win.
"It all works in unison and, so, the better everybody is around him, the better he's going to look," LaFleur said, via NBC Sports. "Our confidence in him is not wavering one bit. Certainly, I think, as the play-caller you put a lot of onus on yourself when things aren't going well. We'll continue to do that, but we've got to find a way to generate more points because when you're generating points, it's just a totally different narrative."
Green Bay is on a three-game losing streak, during which Love has thrown three touchdowns and six interceptions.
The head coach says Love does have potential and has displayed what is needed to show "that it's all right there."
In their Week 7 loss to the Denver Broncos, Love went 21-for-31 with 180 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. This season, Love has a 57.5 completion percentage with 1,263 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The team is currently 2-4 and narrowly ahead of the Chicago Bears for third place in the NFC North. Injuries have not helped the offense, and now with wide receiver Christian Watson appearing to hurt his knee and tight end Luke Musgrave in a walking boot after the loss to Denver, things could only get more difficult.
The team also has offensive tackle David Bakhtiari on injured reserved.
Up next for the Packers is an important divisional game against the Minnesota Vikings, who are coming off a statement win on Monday night over the San Francisco 49ers.
