  • Packers' David Bakhtiari: Expected to participate in camp

Coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Tuesday that Bakhtiari (knee) was intentionally held out of OTAs last week to try to ensure he'd be ready for training camp, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

As suspected, the Packers are far more concerned about Bakhtiari's ability to play come September than about whether or not he's getting practice reps in May. It would still of course be nice to see Bakhtiari at full health at some point during training camp, as he'll likely need to knock off some rust after playing just 27 snaps in 2021.

  • Packers' David Bakhtiari: In attendance at OTAs

Bakhtiari (knee) is on the sideline at OTAs on Tuesday, though he's not wearing a jersey, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

Bakhtiari is present but not participating in the voluntary workouts, as the veteran focuses on staying healthy this offseason. The tackle sat out almost the entirety of 2021 recovering from the torn ACL he suffered back in December of 2020, so his focus is on being ready for Week 1.

  • Packers' David Bakhtiari: Restructures deal

Bakhtiari (knee) and the Packers agreed to restructure his contract Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

The new deal converts $11.58 million of the left tackle's salary for 2022 into a signing bonus, freeing up extra cap space. Bakhtiari missed almost all of 2021 due to injury, appearing in just a single game, but he'd generally been durable prior to last season, missing a total of just 10 games over his first eight years in the league.

  • Packers' David Bakhtiari: No long-term injury concerns

Bakhtiari (knee) said Tuesday in an interview with Aaron Nagler of that he has no long-term concerns about his health.

Bakhtiari spent most of the 2021 campaign sidelined while attempting to work his way back from a torn ACL, ultimately appearing in one game and playing 27 snaps before sitting out Green Bay's divisional-round loss to the 49ers. The 30-year-old had to undergo an additional operation back in November to address cartilage damage, and though it's somewhat concerning that he was never able to return to 100 percent form this season, Bakhtiari doesn't appear to have any concerns about his status heading into 2022. The question of whom Bakhtiari will be blocking for could take longer to answer, though, as a decision on Aaron Rodgers' potential return may not come immediately during the offseason.
