We just had overreaction Monday and Tuesday.

That's what we get after the first NFL Week is complete. Some think what we saw in Week 1 is the football law.

We know better.

That's why Week 2 is tough to evaluate in terms of picking games. No player or team is as good as they looked and nobody is as bad as you think they were.

OK, Cleveland is as bad you think.

They used to call Week 2 "get-even week" in the NFL. It is a league of parity, which means we need to keep an eye out for the winless teams this week.

I am off to a 3-2 start in my best bets here and my picks in the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook contest as part of Team Oddshark. Yes Nick Kostos, my colleague here at CBSSports, had a great week at 4-1 and won't shut up about it.

We know how that works the next week, right?

So here are my Week 2 NFL Best Bets. If you notice, each game goes against a team that looked dominant in Week 1. Why? What week is it? It's get-even week.

1. Panthers minus 13.5: The 49ers are traveling to the East Coast on a short week. That's tough enough. But they are facing a Carolina team that will have been off for 10 days. Bad combination. Not only that, but the Panthers are clearly the better team. The 49ers are not as good as they looked against the Rams. This one will be ugly. I hate the big number, but it makes sense. Carolina has won 13 straight at home and averaged winning by 14 points in those games.

2. Bengals plus 3.5: The Steelers looked good in beating Washington on the road Monday night. And the Bengals are playing consecutive road games. But this is a short trip and Cincinnati was impressive on offense winning at the Jets last week. That will play out here. I am bucking a trend since Andy Dalton is 3-7 against the Steelers. I think there will be a lot of points.

3. Dolphins plus 6.5: The Dolphins are playing consecutive road games after losing at Seattle. But they played tough last week, and will do so here. Jimmy Garoppolo will be making his first home start, but the Dolphins front will be able to get after him some. This will be close and Miami might sneak the upset.

4. Cardinals minus 6.5: Arizona didn't play well against New England last week and still should have won the game. Bruce Arians has been on their butts all week, and that will be a factor. The Bucs are playing consecutive road games and their defense isn't ready to face the Cardinals offense. Carson Palmer has a big day.

5. Bears minus 3: This will be the first road start for Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. He looked good last week at home, but this is a Monday night road game. Those can be tough on veteran quarterbacks. The Bears played good defense for a half last week against the Texans, and I think that will carry over here against the rookie. Bears take it.
