After taking a tough hit from Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson in the third quarter Sunday, Titans quarterback Jake Locker had to be carted off the field with a hip injury.

We might not see Locker for a while. The team reportedly believes its starting QB could miss between 4-8 weeks as he recovers, according to ESPN. The team is still awaiting the results of tests that will give it a better idea of Locker’s recovery time, though reports that the team believes there is no hip dislocation.

Locker, according to reports, was in the hospital as of Monday morning, but he was released shortly thereafter.

Either way, it’s an unfortunate turn for Tennessee. In the past two weeks, Locker was playing some of the most inspired football of his career while leading the Titans, who still haven’t committed a turnover, to a 3-1 record and a tie with Indianapolis for first place in the AFC South.

On Sunday, before he was injured, Locker had completed 18 of 24 passes for 149 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in just 34 minutes of action. He was replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick, who likely will take over as starter until Locker is ready to return.
