Roger Goodell is in Sun Valley for a fancy tech/media conference and he told a CNBC reporter there he expects the NFL to issue a ruling on Deflategate very soon, perhaps even next week.
Goodell was spotted walking with Patriots owner Robert Kraft around Sun Valley, handing out bro fives to random people (see: above).
But he wasn't talking to Kraft about Deflategate (OK ...) according to what the commish told Julia Boorstin.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell tells me it wasn't #DeflateGate he was talking about yesterday with Bob Kraft #SunValley

However the commissioner did tell Boorstin he expects a ruling on Tom Brady's appeal "very soon" and even perhaps "as soon as next week."
A ruling on #DeflateGate is coming soon- could be as soon as next week- says @nfl commissioner Roger Goodell #SunValley

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise.
In outlining why Brady will eventually play in Week 1 for the Patriots, I pointed out we could expect to get a ruling on his appeal -- at the very earliest -- on Friday, June 10.
That is tomorrow and Goodell's not even in the office, so that seems laughable. Also, he said next week. If it is next week, suddenly we're staring down the barrel of a lawsuit that's filed and starting to get into motion around the time the preseason starts.
Which means Brady and the NFL should be fully embroiled in max controversy about the time the season starts. Brady plays and the league gets ratings. What a devastating controversy.
