The 13th-ranked LSU Tigers look to bounce back from just their second loss of the season when they visit the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday for an SEC contest. LSU (15-2, 3-2 SEC), which won three straight following its first defeat of 2021-22, hopes to begin another streak following Saturday's 65-58 home setback against Arkansas. Alabama (11-6, 2-3), which has won four consecutive meetings with the Tigers, is in the midst of a three-game slide after dropping a 78-76 decision at Mississippi State on Saturday.

Tipoff from the Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa is set for 7 p.m. ET. The Crimson Tide are 3.5-point favorites in the latest Alabama vs. LSU odds at Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is 148. Why LSU can cover

Since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, the Tigers have been one of the most successful teams during SEC play. LSU has recorded 42 conference victories in that span, tying Kentucky for most in the league. Sophomore forward Tari Eason (team-leading 15.4 points) has performed well in the Tigers' five SEC games this campaign, scoring an average of 13.4 points while recording his first double-double in 10 overall contests with a season-high 24 points and 12 rebounds in a win over then-No. 18 Tennessee on Jan. 8.

Darius Days, who is the Tigers' leading rebounder (7.6), is averaging 11.6 points during conference play. The senior forward is looking to redeem himself as he scored only three points against Arkansas after producing 20 versus Florida three days earlier. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Eric Gaines has elevated his game of late, as he has registered back-to-back double-digit performances after scoring eight or fewer points in each of his first three SEC contests.

Why Alabama can cover

The Crimson Tide have lost three straight contests and four of their last six, but they just as easily could be entering Wednesday with a seven-game winning streak. Each of Alabama's defeats during the stretch have been by fewer than seven points, including a 78-76 setback at Mississippi State on Saturday in which Keon Ellis missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer. The senior guard finished with 14 points in that contest, giving him a season-best streak of four straight games with double-digit totals.

Jaden Shackelford leads Alabama with an average of 16.2 points and has reached double digits in all but one of his 17 outings this season. Fellow junior guard Jahvon Quinerly, who is second on the team in scoring (14.8 points), is eager to bounce back from a five-point effort against Mississippi State that ended his streak of nine consecutive double-digit performances. Shackelford and Quinerly were productive against LSU last season, as both averaged 15.3 points over the three victories.
