We'll learn something about Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher's team this weekend against Wake Forest. (US Presswire)

This might be the most revealing weekend of the year in the ACC. There are two divisional matchups, and four ACC teams play non-conference games against BCS schools, three of which are on the road.

Here are five questions for the third weekend of ACC football:

  • What will we learn about Florida State? Florida State begins its season Saturday against Wake Forest after beating up on FCS opponents Murray State and Savannah State the first two weekends. It didn't come without a price as DE Brandon Jenkins was lost for the year with a foot injury he suffered against Murray State. After Saturday's game with Wake Forest, there will be some evidence as to whether or not Florida State can live up to its lofty preseason expectations.
  • Should Virginia be considered a serious player in the Coastal Division? Heading into its matchup with Georgia Tech, Virginia has a lot of question marks, but oddly, those questions are coming on the offensive side of the ball. The Cavaliers have not been able to get their running game going, and coach Mike London pulled QB Michael Rocco for two series in favor of Phillip Sims in the second half against Penn State. This is a must-win for Georgia Tech to stay in the division race, but Virginia will be taken seriously as a Coastal Division contender with a road win.
  • Will Clemson WR Sammy Watkins have to shake off any rust? Watkins returns this week after serving his two game suspension. Everything went as well as it could for Clemson in his absence. The Tigers are 2-0 and, barring an absolute disaster against Furman, will enter next week's showdown with Florida State undefeated. This week, Clemson will try to get Watkins back in the swing of things. Coach Dabo Swinney said Watkins will assume kick and punt return duties on top of his role on offense.
  • How will Maryland coach Randy Edsall fare against his former team? The Terrapins have already won as many games this year as they did all of last year. Now, Edsall and Maryland will welcome Connecticut to College Park. Edsall did not handle his departure from UConn well at all after the 2010 season, and the Huskies will probably be a little more fired up than usual on Saturday.
  • Will Boston College coach Frank Spaziani have to endure a long bye week? The Eagles play a Northwestern team that is 2-0 with both wins coming over BCS opponents. The Wildcats beat Syracuse on opening weekend and got past Vanderbilt 23-13 last weekend. This is still a game in which Boston College should be competitive and could even steal on the road. Boston College has a bye next week. If the Eagles don't play well and are 1-2, the hot seat talk surrounding Spaziani will heat up.
