He later beat a tight end off the edge for a sack, then logged another after a stunt for inside rush. With positions up for grabs along Houston's new four-man front, Omenihu is a riser heading into the final preseason game Saturday against the Buccaneers. Omenihu has been playing end on early downs, then moving inside on obvious passing downs to get quicker bodies on the edge.... See More ... See Less

Omenihu (leg) is active for Sunday's matchup against New England.

The Texas product dressed for 14 contests as a rookie, and he's continued to fill an important rotational role on defense in his sophomore season as well. Omenihu (leg) is considered questionable for Sunday's game versus the Browns.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Fills rotational role as rookie
Omenihu recorded 13 tackles, three sacks, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles over 14 regular-season games in 2019.
Omenihu averaged 32 defensive snaps per game, and his playing time ticked up after J.J. Watt's mid-season pectoral injury opened up an opportunity for the rookie. Houston invested a 2019 fifth-round draft pick in Omenihu, a local kid from Houston who played college ball at Texas, and he developed nicely. The Texans used several players at the defensive end spot opposite Watt, so expect Omenihu to be in the mix for a starting job in 2020.... See More ... See Less
