Simmons is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Athletics.
Simmons has struggled to get things going in September, slashing .229/.260/.257 with two doubles and a stolen base in 18 games. As such, he'll head to the bench Tuesday as David Fletcher picks up a start at shortstop in his place.
