Alford, 23, is hitting .310/.406/.429 with five home runs, 24 RBI and 18 steals in 68 games at Double-A New Hampshire.
A torrid start led Alford to a brief four-game stint in the big leagues, then his season was derailed yet again by injury. He has been back at Double-A for about a month now, but must prove to the club he can stay healthy. Alford has never played more than 107 games in a single season.
